DORGAN LEGISLATIVE ASSISTANT TOURS FAMILY HEALTHCARE CENTER 

Fargo, ND - Melissa Habedank, a legislative assistant for U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan, toured Family HealthCare Center with Executive Director Patricia Patron May 24th.

Habedank met several FHC staff members, including Patient Support Services Director Carrie Baumgartner, who explained FHC's transition to the electronic medical records system.

She also visited with Mary Larson about FHC's wide range of wellness services, including diabetes case management and nutrition counseling.

Habedank also learned about FHC's innovative medical interpreter program, which provides highly trained interpreters in over a dozen languages and dialects free-of-charge to FHC patients.  Marlene Espejo works closely with refugees are who are new to area, helping them address urgent medical needs and access required immunizations.

Senator Dorgan has been a staunch advocate of accessible health care, supporting expansion of the Children's Health Insurance Program and working to restore funding for North Dakota's Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention program.
