Family HealthCare Center has been improving access to quality care in
Fargo for two decades.
1990: A Section 340 Homeless Health Care grant opens access to a clinic site at the Salvation Army and usage grows rapidly. Emergency rooms document a significant rise in visits for primary care needs.
1992: A community-based organization, the Health Care Access Network (HCAN), is formed to evaluate barriers and identify strategies for improving access to health care in the Fargo area.
1993: 330 Community Health Center non-profit status established.
1994: Board membership is set at 51% consumers of clinic services. Name change to Family HealthCare Center.
1995: Family HealthCare Center’s dental services begin in Fargo. Moorhead location opens later.
2001: CCMIS and Family HealthCare Center organize program offering medically-trained interpreters for patients with language barriers.
2003: Family HealthCare Center’s initial accreditation with The Joint Commission.
2006: FHC’s Patient Advisory Council formed.
